The advantages of LED luminaires

The LED (or LED) has many advantages over conventional incandescent bulbs. First of all, not heating, it will not damage your plants, or worse, cause a fire. With a lifespan of 20,000 to 30,000 hours, you can be sure that you can enjoy your investment for many years without expensive and painful replacements. In addition, LED lighting, including LED outdoor lighting, consumes up to ten times less energy than incandescent bulbs, yet offers excellent light output. While being recyclable! A nice gesture for the planet as well as for your portfolio, considering that the initial investment will be quickly amortized by the economy on your electricity bill. This is a wise decision in both the short and long term.

How to choose your LED outdoor lights

The first criterion to take into account is the type of luminaire: a recessed LED spotlight will not necessarily be used as an outdoor LED lantern, will not offer the same technical characteristics or the same visual rendering. Although both can sometimes be placed in the same place, near a front door, for example, the result will be very different. So you have to know exactly what you expect from your LED outdoor lights. Which surface would you like to illuminate? No need to take a projector with a power of 200 Watts if you are looking for soft lighting for your garden, and vice versa: an outdoor LED wall light or a simple LED outdoor spot will not necessarily be enough to effectively illuminate an entire area of games, for example. Take into account the surface but also the angle at which your luminaire must be able to illuminate: a wide-angle will surely be more interesting near a door of entry while a more concentrated light will highlight the key elements of your outside and him will give a more mysterious atmosphere. Namely, the wider the angle, the lower the lighting power, because the light will be diffused over a larger area! With the exception of RGB LED spotlights and some 220V LED strips that offer a variety of color choices, from white to red to blue, the bulbs in most outdoor LED lights will be white. But beware, not all whites are alike! Make sure you choose your color temperature so that it sticks to the expected mood: warm white for a more yellow light and a warm and cozy atmosphere, neutral white for a shade close to daylight and a simple and natural lighting and cold white for a slightly bluish light, perfectly suited to spaces where you want a faithful color rendering and a fresh and modern effect. Finally, the protection index is very important. Of LED outdoor lighting fixtures must be able to support at least dust and rain. If they are on the ground, their index of protection against liquid bodies must be even higher (immersion, watering, water games, heavy rainfall ...)
